Carbothix is an instantly thickening, fast curing two-component silicate resin for sealing bolts.
The resin was especially developed for bonding injection bolts such as self drilling anchors (“grout into bolt”) and for grouting steel and GRP bolts when prefilling the hole before inserting the bar (“bolt into grout”). Additionally it is well suited for sealing against flowing water.
During application Carbothix instantly achieves a grease-like viscosity after mixing (the so called Thix Effect) so that the mix stops flowing, even out of large boreholes, and requires pump pressure for precise spreading displacement.
Carbothix retains this thixotropic nature allowing for sufficient time to install the bolts. In pull tests according to DIN 21 521 with 25 mm diameter threaded bolts a pull out force of 360 kN was achieved on 600 mm grouted length in a 32 mm hole after 4 hours as well as 7 days.
The thixotropic nature of the grout as well as its resistance against water provides a unique sealing against pressurised water inflow.
The approval of the German Mining Authority Arnsberg (admission no. 84.12.11.67-7-4) is available.
