Weldgrip Gabions and mattresses provide a low cost, easily installed method of construction and retainment. They are made from high tensile mesh, which can be hot dip galvanized or Galfan coated.
The latter is a Zinc-Aluminum coating applied to improve the corrosion resistance of the wire.

They provide reinforcement for many structures, which include :

All Weldgrip gabions and Mattresses are manufactured from cold drawn steel wire, electrically welded at every intersection. Standard sizes and finishes are shown in the tables below. Other specifications may be available to special order.

Weldgrip gabions and mattresses are supplied in a collapsed form. Sections are linked together before despatch with stainless steel clips. Split rings and galvanized wire lacing is also supplied for site assembly.

Site assembly of gabions and mattresses should be carried out in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.

Assembled gabions and mattress should be placed in position prior to filling, and secured to adjoining gabions by lacing with the wire provided.

Filling material should be not less than 100mm, or larger than 150mm; 90% of fill to be retained on a 100mm ring. The fill should be packed tightly so that there are no apparent voids.

Gabions should be overfilled by 25mm - 50mm to allow for settlement. The lacing of the lids should be carried out immediately after filling, particularly in storm or flood situations.
